Dear Laser Dental colleagues,

Now we are at the crossroads of the next stage, where we are upgrading "SOLAZE" to "Journal of Dental Lasers." Journal of Dental Lasers (JDL), initially known as "SOLAZE," has successfully completed 5 years of publication since its inception in 2007, serving the dental laser professionals all over the globe as a valuable scientific publication under the eminent leadership of Team SOLA. The journal aims at disseminating new knowledge in the field of Dental Lasers and provides a forum for deliberations and exchange of knowledge among dental institutes and clinical practitioners.

With this new beginning, it is my honor and privilege to continue as the Editor of this prestigious Journal along with all other members of the Editorial Board for their invaluable contributions and a job well done. SOLAZE has seen leaping improvement in its style, set-up, and diversity in contents through the past years and it will be the collective endeavor of the present Editorial Board to add more colors to its wings by making JDL a success.

As part of this change, the Journal's Web site will become the "point of entry" for authors, with revised and updated instructions about manuscript preparation, and the ability to submit work and track its progression through the review process online. It will enhance the "mechanics" of the review process, making it possible to be more responsive and reach disposition decisions more quickly. One of the things that the Editorial Team is most excited about is the ability to post accepted articles as an "e-pub" ahead of print, making new evidence available to colleagues in clinical and research environments as quickly as possible, without the "lag time" that now exists between acceptance and publication in print. While there are sure to be some quirks to work out as we implement the new systems, the Editorial Team is confident that this will allow the JDL to continue to grow and mature as a leading source of clinically relevant evidence for the enhancement of knowledge in the field of Dental Lasers.

We invite our broad community of scientists in dental lasers to join us in crafting the future of the journal by writing in your suggestions, Features, Articles, News-Snippets, Scientific Research and Reviews, Clinical pearls and Reports to make Journal of Dental Lasers… more meaningful publications...

The submissions included in this issue cover a wide array of topics through a variety of mediums. We hope that our selections will be able to offer a small glimpse into some of the work that is being done in the different parts of the country. We aim to make JDL Publications the voice of Laser professionals across the globe. An interaction through a medium like this will enhance our understanding of the profession, professionals, and the science in our region from a multi-dimensional perspective. I welcome any and all comments. And as a closing statement, just want to remind you that now is a great time to write up the innovations and successes that you have in the classroom and share them with your colleagues. Keep those submissions rolling in.

Medknow is the largest open access publisher publishing on behalf of learned societies and associations and we chose the same. Now, all that remains is for us to look forward to fruitful research in the exciting field of "Dental Lasers" yet to come and hope to ensure that "Journal of Dental Lasers" becomes an ultimate venue for publishing the results.
