GINGIVA is the most frequently pigmented tissue of the oral cavity . Although gingival hyper pigmentation does not represent a pathologic problem, patients request cosmetic therapy especially when the pigmentation is on the facial aspect of the gingiva and the patient with gummy smile often find it to be unaesthetic. Of the various treatment modalities, depigmentation with scalpel which is the conventional technique and the newer one which is the lasers has been described in the following case series with comparative clinical evaluation. |
