Vivek Govila, Smita Govila The role of laser surgery in the oral cavity is well established. Labial frenectomy is a common surgical procedure in the field of periodontics. The use of diode laser frenectomy without infiltrated anaesthesia and pain is currently a novel technique. Currently, painless procedures are secured by using local or general anaesthesia. This article describes case reports of performing pain free upper labial frenectomy in patients without infiltrated local anaesthesia. |

Comparative clinical evaluation of gingival depigmentation using scalpel and diode laser: Case series |

CS Baijua, Himanshu Khashu, Smriti Manchandac GINGIVA is the most frequently pigmented tissue of the oral cavity . Although gingival hyper pigmentation does not represent a pathologic problem, patients request cosmetic therapy especially when the pigmentation is on the facial aspect of the gingiva and the patient with gummy smile often find it to be unaesthetic. Of the various treatment modalities, depigmentation with scalpel which is the conventional technique and the newer one which is the lasers has been described in the following case series with comparative clinical evaluation. |

Laser and MTA pulpotomy : the way ahead in the primary dentition |

Iqbal Musani, Smita Musani, Ramandeep Dugal Pulpotomy is performed in a primary tooth with extensive caries but without evidence of radicular pathology when caries removal results in a carious or mechanical pulp exposure. Formocresol has been a popular pulpotomy medicament and is still the most universally taught pulp treatment for primary teeth. Concerns have been raised over the use of formocresol in humans and several alternatives have been proposed. The paper attempts to present a narrative review the use of lasers and MTA as an alternative to the conventional formocresol pulpotomy. |

Comparative evaluation of gutta percha remaining after retreatment using rotary retreatment files and Nd:yag laser: A Stereomicroscopic study |

Naylah Fajandar, Sameer Jadhav, Vivek Hegde Aim: 1. To evaluate the gutta percha removal using Rotary Retreatment Files And Nd:YAG laser.
Materials and Method: 20 extracted single rooted teeth were selected for the study. Cleaning
and shaping were done till rotary protaper F3. The teeth were obturated using gutta percha and zinc oxide eugenol. The teeth were randomly divided into 2 groups:
Group A: Gutta percha removal with Protaper Rotary Retreatment Files
Group B: Gutta percha was softened using Nd:YAG laser and then removed with Protaper
Rotary Retreatment Files.
The teeth were then sectioned using a chisel and mallet. The sectioned teeth were analysed for the guta percha remaining using MVI500 software (Chroma systems) and stereomicroscope |

Depigmentation of gingiva – A step by step procedure, with the use of Er:YAG laser – A case report |

Preeti Rao Depigmentation of gingiva with laser is also commonly called as laser gum bleaching and is an effective, safe and fast way to properly treat gum tissue discoloration. The technique targets and ablate the melanocytes, which are the cells that produce melanin and cause the depigmentation, therefore reducing the possibility of melanin production in the Gingival tissue. Melanin is elaborated by specific cells called melanocytes which reside in the basal cell layer and is transferred to the basal cell where it is stored in the form of melasnosomes. |
